The Power Controller is an advanced computerized technology that is specially designed to optimize energy savings, enhance the performance of inductive motors and extend their life. Originally developed for NASA, the technology has been advanced and made available for particular applications through UCSA. Through a specially programmed microchip, the PC 116 (under 7 HP) and PC 117 (under 3 HP) can cut the energy usage of large energy eaters in your home or business by as much as 50%... Energy consuming central air conditioning, pool pumps, factories, or machine shops. The PC 116 and PC 117 will work on any inductive motor, and will not only save on electricity costs, but will extend the life of your motor by ensuring that it consumes just enough electrical power to meet the energy requirements placed on it That means less wear and tear on the motor, lower maintenance costs, and less downtime due to electric motor failure. The PC 116 and PC 117 is made for use with any inductive motor, but is most beneficial in use with: pumps, blowers, fans, washing machines, gas heated dryers, central air conditioning, and machine shop equipment such as drill presses, lathes, conveyer belts, escalators and all sorts of commercial applications. PC 116 and PC 117 is simple to install and adaptable to a variety of motors. Since some motors have different requirements for optimum performance, the PC 116 and PC 117 provides you with jumper pin settings to enable you to select different programs to best suit your application. All you have to do is wire it in according to the instructions and forget it. The PC 116 and PC 117 will do all the work from there.

BWT has developed the most important device in the entire electronics and electric motor industry. Our circuit, when added to any inductive motor, can save as much as 50% of the power going into that motor. At the time of this writing, UCSA has two models of Power Controllers, with many more in the development stages. The first model (item # 117) is for controlling any single inductive motor smaller than 3 horse power. It can be 110 volt or 220 volts, single phase only, for now. The function of the motor can be fixed (as in a blower or pump motor that runs the same speed all the time), or it can be a variable function (like a compressor or dryer that changes load continually). These units are especially good for bowling alleys or for Laundromats. They are also good for lathes, grinders, drill presses, and tools under 3 hp in machine shops.
The second unit (item # 116) is for all inductive motors from 3 to 7 horse power (but they are not ready for three phase at this time). They can even be used to control more than one motor in a circuit. They are good for controlling the central air conditioning of a home, for example, because they will control both the compressor and the blower. Any time there are multiple motors on a circuit up to 40 amps (like a machine shop) one of these PCs can control all the motors on that circuit. These units can now be ordered by dealers. There will soon be more information coming out on what they do as they are tested in the field. Here are some ideas on what can be done now with these products...
Bowling alleys are an excellent application for the PC (Power Controller). The motor that sets the pins runs in a "stand by" mode all day long, and the PC can demonstrate a savings in this application, of 35% on the average. A bowling alley with forty lanes would need 60 Power Controllers. At the suggested retail price of $80 each, that is a sale of $4,800 plus $1,200 for installation, unless their handyman wants to install them to save the boss money.
To figure out what the savings would be, you would first deduct the amount of electricity they use for lights and general use... generally about one-third. If the total electric bill for the facility is $2,500 per month, as an example, that would leave $1,665 for the functions the PC can control. A 35% savings of $1665 is $583, saved per month. This comes to $6,993 saved per year on a $6,000 expenditure if the dealer installs it, or $4,800 if their handyman does. The payback would be less than one year. If they leased it, their payments would be about $250 per month for 36 months. They could save $583 per month and pay only $250 per month for a net gain over their payments from month number one of $333 in their pocket! We also have a program where a dealer could let them have the job on a shared savings plan that would allow the dealer to get 75% of the $583 saved each month ($437 per month) and the owner of the facility could keep the other 25% of the savings ($146 kept).
With model two, those horizons are greatly multiplied. This new model, which can be used for central air conditioning, makes the residential market accessible. The dealer can charge the homeowner $240 for the PC unit that saves 20% of cooling costs in the summer and the blower costs all year long. There is nothing anywhere on the market like the model two unit for up to 7 horsepower applications. This means that machine shops may be able to get by with only one or two of these units at $158 each. The avenues that it will open for smaller and easier sales is great. They also can be used on bigger motors like for escalators that are always running. When the three phase units are ready the entire manufacturing market will blow wide open.
